Keeping pet retailers supplied with extensive range of specialty products and brands
Gloria Pets is a wholesale business specialized in the supply of a wide range of products for dogs and cats. It sells to pet specialty retailers and veterinarian clinics from a head office and warehouse in Pamplona. It has a team of 22 sales agents that operate in France, Portugal, Spain and Italy. It distributes more than 5,000 SKUs from 27 different international brands and also manufactures products that are sold under its own Gloria brand or as private-label products for other companies.
The challenges
Improve order taking
Gloria Pets sells its products exclusively via specialty retailers and veterinarian clinics and it was looking for a platform that would make its order entry processes more efficient irrespective of which channel is used. In particular, it wanted to give its 15 sales representatives a quick and efficient way to enter orders when they are out visiting customers. Previously, orders were entered manually and there was no real-time stock visibility so the representatives had no way of knowing if the products the customer wanted were held in stock in the warehouse. That created frustration both for the representatives and the customers.


Manual processes
Gloria Pets wanted a system that could automate the picking and packing of orders in the warehouse, which is located in Berriozar near Pamplona and handles 99% of products that Gloria Pets sells. It had a particular challenge around the logistics operations as the manual processes were very inefficient and error-prone. The only tool was a spreadsheet that showed the different tariffs of the various carriers. An operator had to choose the most appropriate carrier based on the information in the spreadsheet and then enter the website of the carrier and manually print off a shipping label.

The solution
Empowers sales representatives
One of the attractions of the Openbravo solution for Gloria Pets was its web-based POS client software, which can be used on a wide variety of mobile and desktop devices without requiring installation. Gloria Pets chose to give its 15 sales representatives tablet computers running Openbravo POS .Thanks to the flexible and responsive interface of Openbravo POS which adapts to any mobile device, the sales representatives can perform a variety of transactions and access customer information in real time while interacting directly with the customer.


Unified order preparation
The Openbravo back office solution has given Gloria Pets the flexibility it needed to unify the processing of orders from different channels. As well as the orders transmitted by sales representatives in the field, orders can be entered directly by back office staff, while some orders from large retail chains arrive via Edicom, a legacy B2B commerce platform.
More recently, Openbravo partner SMF Consulting has added eCommerce integration using the Magento eCommerce connector to allow Gloria Pets to also take online orders from its customers via its B2B portal.
