Cooltra is the leading company in sustainable two-wheel mobility solutions in Europe and was founded by entrepreneur Timo Buetefisch. Born in Barcelona 14 years ago, the company offers vehicle rentals to individuals, companies and public administrations by minutes, days and months. It is present in 6 European countries (Spain, Austria, France, Italy, Portugal and the Czech Republic), and has a workforce of almost 400 employees. It currently has a fleet of more than 17,000 vehicles, of which 56% are electric motorcycles that operate with zero emissions.
THE CHALLENGES
One platform to run the business
Cooltra was looking for a technological platform that could manage every aspect of its rental business for both B2B and B2C customers. It placed particular importance on offering its a seamless omnichannel experience so that customers and rentals are treated identically irrespective of whether the reservation is made in a physical location, on its website or via the eCooltra app.
Scalable to support future expansion
Cooltra, which currently has more than 100 rental locations in Spain, France, Italy, Austria, Portugal and Czech Republic, also needed a highly scalable solution that could accommodate rapid growth in the number of vehicles and physical locations.
At Cooltra, we were looking for a zero-footprint solution that could easily integrate with other systems and adapt to new business needs as we evolve. Openbravo’s cloud-based platform gives us that capability.

Cooltra selected Openbravo because, unlike legacy technologies, its cloud-based, mobile-enabled platform enables faster innovation and easier integration, which are essential as Cooltra is to stay ahead in its market by adapting to new requirements. For example, Cooltra needed some business-specific payments functionality so Openbravo and Adyen, an Openbravo partner and payments platform provider, worked together to deliver the solution in just 3 months.
Full functional coverage
The solution is operational in all of Cooltra’s rental outlets and handles the full range of front and back-office tasks, including customer and reservations management, vehicle check-out and check-in, invoicing and fleet management.
