Openbravo Retail Talk with Hippo Stores

Omnichannel drives convergence of B2B and retail

Welcome to Openbravo Retail Talks

Welcome to Openbravo Retail Talks, a series of digital events hosted by Openbravo where we will review key trends, challenges and opportunities in retail by talking to the experts who really understand this industry.

About this talk

We often hear about the disruptive effect that new technology has had on B2C commerce, but we have not yet seen a similar sweeping transformation in B2B commerce.

Perhaps industrial companies are resistant to change and too attached to old ways of doing business. Or perhaps they undervalue the role that digital technologies can play in giving them a sustainable advantage. Whatever the reason, it is clear that the boundaries between B2B and B2C are blurring rapidly. More businesses realized that the omnichannel technologies that have been applied so successfully to consumer-facing retail can also be used to improve transactions and deepen relationships in the B2B space.

To find out more about how omnichannel is driving the convergence of B2B and B2C, we have the please of talking to Ranjit Satyanath, CTO of Hippo Stores, a new building and construction retail business from the Dalmia Bharat Group, one of India’s most respected industrial conglomerates, and an Openbravo customer.

“Most of the buying recommendations are done by service providers like contractors and architectural firms. Even for these experts, predictability of supply is not a given. So therefore there is a very real problem waiting to be solved which Hippo has undertaken. We are keen to use tech as our main tool to solve this along with making sure that we have the best assortment and a very competitive price.”
