Founded in 1953, La Europea is today a consolidated brand on the market in Mexico and is universally recognized as a prestigious specialist with more than 50 branches strategically located at the most important points in Mexico’s high-end tourism sector.
In 1994, La Europea began to modernize its store concept with the opening of its "Wine Market" in Toreo, a warehouse with storage and distribution capabilities for groceries and alcoholic beverages. To expand on its services and competitiveness, La Europea began the direct and exclusive importation of some internationally renowned wines, spirits and food brands through its subsidiary, Importaciones Colombres, S.A. DE C.V., which is currently the leading importer of wines for the Mexican market.
Challenges
Simplified IT infrastructure
Each branch maintained its own database, making it difficult to access information from the central office for analyzing sales and updating data. It also increased the complexity of processes for the preparation of a new store opening.
Greater agility in the management of products and pricing
La Europea required a new solution that offered greater agility for the management of numerous products and promotions, thereby reducing the time required for the introduction or the modification of existing products or promotions and enabling a more efficient application of prices at the point of sale according to customer type.
Ease of integration
La Europea also required an easily integrable solution with existing systems such as ERP, eCommerce and loyalty platform.

Moving to the cloud was a key objective for us, and Openbravo has made it easier, allowing greater business agility and the possibility of scaling the solution more efficiently, depending on our needs.

Solution
Cloud-based POS integrated with SAP
La Europea currently uses Openbravo as a point-of-sale solution in over 100 points of sale which are distributed in its more than 50 Branches, making use of standard functionality and specific adaptations. These include integrations such as SAP through Openbravo’s certified connector, electronic wallet programs, MITEC bank payment gateways, a Magento-based online channel and the electronic billing portal for customers.
The solution allows for a much more agile management of a wide range of products and a high number of promotions and discounts based on multiple conditions (such as payment methods or others). Openbravo allows for a more efficient and personalized management of the different types of existing clients, under standard or credit sales scenarios, as in the case of hotel chains and consumer centers that represent a significant percentage of their sales.
