We have simplified our processes, improved response times and are prepared to address the new growth and internationalization projects we have planned.

OVER 200 YEARS OF EXCELLENCE IN TEXTILES

Bassols started Spain's first 100% linen factory in 1790. By 1883, the company expanded and incorporated mechanical looms into a new factory in Barcelona. The company has long been recognized and associated with the high quality of its products, earning its first Gold Medal at the 1888 Universal Expo in Barcelona and again at the 1929 International Expo in Barcelona. In 1980, the company's first home textile collection was born, and in 1992 the company began a national and international expansion campaign into new sectors such as fashion and interior design, all of which are still managed today under a single, renowned company.

THE CHALLENGES

Greater integration, higher merchandise agility wanted for smarter growth
Bassols needed to migrate three legacy databases, which included repeat business and logistical data, and integrate them with their activities and ecommerce platforms into a single system.

The company also needed a more agile way to introduce products, either by creating new collections or selling to the hospitality industry, which would require up-to-date, thorough product records with information such as manufacturing data, compositions, size and color variants.

And finally, the company hoped to gain greater control of their manufacturing operations by managing their external workshops more efficiently, including order planning, workshop allocation, and stock control – all of which requires greater visibility of current and future stock so that they could respond more effectively to new and repeat orders.

THE SOLUTION

Customized, sector-specific solution with eCommerce integration
A full, vertically-integrated solution designed to meet all of Bassols’ business needs and sector-specific requirements was developed by our Spanish partner, Practics, who was able to complete the project in just four months. Specific features available as part of the textile vertical (PStyle) included the creation of new collections — from idea to design, materials and fabrics — and data sheets, seasonal rates, variants with BOM from a model, and Order Entry in matrix form by color, size, and product type.

The interoperability of the Openbravo platform made it easy to integrate with e-commerce platforms such as Magento, MarketPlace and Rakuten as well as with external logistics operators.

We chose Openbravo for its technology platform, its extensive textile functionality and ease in adapting to industry-specific requirements — such as calculating fabric consumption according to the layout of pieces in the cut — which were developed in the ERP itself. As a result, the whole company now works only with Openbravo.

THE RESULTS

More orders processed, shorter delivery times, and significant IT cost savings
The flexibility of Openbravo’s platform was used to build a customized, vertically-integrated, and textile sector-specific solution in just four months. Bassols was able to integrate all of their logistics, financial processes, different eCommerce platforms and activities from different business areas into a single, centrally-managed system.

Thanks to a greater consistency in product, pricing, and order information and real-time inventory status visibility, Bassols was able to increase their capacity to process a higher number of orders and ensure shorter delivery times. They were also able to reduce errors in picking and packing processes as well as increased efficiency through the use of mobile devices in the warehouse.

The Openbravo Commerce Suite solution has laid the foundation required to support future growth, and the possibility of cloud deployment has eliminated the need for purchasing additional technological infrastructure, both of which ultimately allow Bassols focus more on the business and its future.
