Openbravo secures award and prize at Open Source Business Award

January 25, 2008 - Nuremberg, Germany - Openbravo, the developer of the leading professional web-based open source enterprise resource planning (ERP) and point-of-sale (POS) solutions designed specifically for small and medium enterprises (SMEs), has been named as a winner in this year's Open Source Business Awards.
The Open Source Business Foundation, a European network for the open source sector with its headquarters in Nuremberg, presents the Open Source Business Award annually to entrepreneurs with innovative ideas, promising business plans and conceptual brilliance. An expert jury comprised of prominent venture capitalists and LBCN campus coaches examine the nominated ventures in-depth. The award seeks entrepreneurs with fresh open source software ideas that can be applied to business, to revolutionize markets and create new standards. With the highest prize money of any business plan competition in Europe, it hands out a combined €75,000 ($109,500) to the top three selected companies.
Openbravo was selected as a winner at the awards, presented at the Open Source Meets Business Conference securing the position for its market-leading open source ERP and POS products. Openbravo ERP is the dominant open source project with nearly 500,000 downloads on SourceForge, the most important open source software repository.
Openbravo has received numerous awards across Europe and America, including the 'Red Herring 100 Europe Award 2007', the Product Excellence Award for 'Best Integration Solution' at LinuxWorld Conference & Expo in August 2007, and in September 2007, the 'Best of Open Source Software' award for ERP by InfoWorld in the 2007 BOSSIE Awards and Project of the Month at SourceForge.
