- Openbravo's European Get Together 2008 in Barcelona provides a forum for sharing ideas and an opportunity for Openbravo to present its commitment to the open source community -
Barcelona, Spain - 29 April, 2008 - Openbravo, the leading developer of web-based open source Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Point of Sale (PoS) solutions for small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs), has completed its European Get Together 2008 which was attended by more than 50 companies from 15 countries around the world.
At the event, the Openbravo management team presented the Openbravo Manifesto, the company's commitment to the open source community. The manifesto stresses Openbravo's belief in transparency, openness, excellence and leadership, with each element relating to the community. The full commitment is available on Openbravo's website.
As well as presentations on the company's plans and vision, the Get Together included forums to discuss business and technology, and to share ideas.
The Get Together events are a vital opportunity for Openbravo to gather feedback from its community. They are one of a variety of series of free events held by Openbravo as part of the company's continuous commitment to delivering market-leading software driven by community feedback.
Each Get Together is split over two half days with a business track that focuses on business development and sales tactics and the other day focused on technical features and updates.
Openbravo community members that attended the Barcelona Get Together said, "This was the first Openbravo community event we have attended and it was worth every minute. It was great to spend time and share ideas with Openbravo's management team, and to get to know the people behind the technology which drives our success."
Manel Sarasa, CEO for Openbravo said, "Open source is all about sharing information, and much of that communication is online. But there's no substitute for bringing the community together in the real world, and having a chance to discuss things unencumbered by technology. It was wonderful to meet so many customers, partners and other community members and to receive their feedback and ideas. We're already looking forward to our first US event in June that will be open and free as well, which we're sure will be equally successful."
The next event, Openbravo's inaugural American Get Together, will be held in Miami on June 21. It will be free and open to all community members. Program details can be found on the Openbravo website, where registrations can be made online. The event will coincide with the conclusion of Openbravo's three-week Training Convention, which will kick off on June 9, 2008. Courses at the convention can be bought at the Openbravo e-shop.
