Pamplona - October 29th, 2007 - Openbravo, the developer of the leading professional web-based open source ERP solution designed specifically for small and medium businesses, has reached an agreement to acquire Librepos, previously named Tina POS, the leading point-of-sale (POS) application in the open source space.

Adrian Romero, founder and main developer for Tina POS, now Librepos, has joined Openbravo where he will continue supporting and developing the software and strengthen the capabilities of the Engineering team as a Software Architect. With more than 12 years of experience in the ERP world at Meta4 in the R&D area, he brings an incredible wealth of experience to the team. "Of all the companies I have come across in the open source market, I am glad to be joining Openbravo. The ERP space is ready for open source and very synergic with Librepos. Tina POS changed its name to Librepos to avoid a potential trademark conflict, as another company has trademark rights to the "Tina" name in relation to POS products in certain countries. To incorporate the POS software within the Openbravo portfolio of products, the project will be changing its name to "Openbravo POS".

Under Openbravo's umbrella, Openbravo POS will continue to be an open source product. Openbravo is already investing in Openbravo POS in terms of development resources and business services to make it a successful solution.

The acquisition places Openbravo in a prime spot to provide an integrated ERP and point of sale solution to retailers and other consumer-led industries such as the hospitality sector, by providing a link between back-office resource planning and front-end point-of-sales.

By joining forces with Openbravo, both Openbravo POS and Openbravo ERP will benefit from the merge of its communities. Openbravo has contributed to the integration of both projects and there are already a significant number of companies benefiting from the integration.

Both projects are leaders in their fields and have enjoyed huge successes in the market to date. Openbravo has developed the most frequently-downloaded open source Enterprise Resource Planning application available on the web, with more than 350,000 downloads since its launch, while the formerly named Tina POS holds the most popular point of sale software in its segment, with more than 100,000 downloads since the launch of its first version in January 2005.
