Throughout the show Openbravo will be running demonstrations of its new v2.3 software, which will be available for download and community feedback at SourceForge, and Openbravo-Jaspersoft interoperability demos. This new version builds on modules and capabilities to the popular ERP project, which has had more than 250,000 downloads, and includes new features such as:
- New user interface: Improved design, intuitive widget layout, hierarchical navigation, greater usability, simplified interface, and flexible skin customization features. The main application menu and application windows have been re-organized to group functionality in a more logical pattern, making it more user-friendly.
- Revised accounting module: Tools for importing taxes for specific countries, general ledger and tax reports configuration dependent on local rules and complete account tracking through improved debt payment information.
- Integration with JasperReports: JasperReports is a powerful open source Java reporting tool that has the ability to deliver rich content onto the screen, to the printer or into PDF, HTML, XLS, CSV and XML files. It now provides a simple, flexible and attractive method of generating reports within Openbravo.
- User message management: Clear, user-friendly messages are now provided for all model validations (database constraints etc...) which enables all exceptions to be clearly communicated to users using text messages.
- New alerts: A new background process periodically checks all defined alerts in the system. Revised alerts and data validations are proactively communicated to designated users, shown in the applications menu and available to manage via pending alert windows. The alerts are also sent to users via email.
- Single sign-on: In collaboration with the Open Solutions Alliance, support for single sign-on has been implemented paving the way for integration with other corporate applications.
Manel Sarasa, CEO of Openbravo said, "LinuxWorld is the main event of the open source calendar which means that it is the perfect opportunity to demonstrate our latest version to the market and to share in the buzz of new technologies and capabilities. We are also excited to talk to the community about our plans for the future growth and continued leadership of Openbravo. We have so many initiatives in which we have been working so hardly."
"As always, we welcome the chance to spend time speaking with users and prospects about the benefits of ERP and open source, as well as continuing to engage with other OSA members on key topics such as interoperability and common customer view."
