Open Solutions Alliance to participate at OSCON 07
The Open Solutions Alliance (OSA) will participate at OSCON 07 (Open Source Convention), an event that brings together over 2500 open source developers, gurus, experts, and users July 23-27, 2007 in Portland, Oregon. Openbravo CTO, Ismael Ciorda and our Community Director, Jordi Mas will be there involved in OSA activities.
Who
The Open Solutions Alliance (OSA) was formed to speed the creation and adoption of integrated, interoperable open solutions for business customers. To encourage community participation in support of this goal, the OSA is sponsoring a series of interoperability "hack-a-thons", each one focusing on a specific interoperability topic of concern to customers today.
What
The first such event will be at OSCON 2007, and will focus on single sign on (SSO). Developers of any open source application with knowledge of its authentication mechanisms are welcome to participate. Interested developers should be prepared with their application of choice (with source code) pre-installed on their laptop. Latest details and downloads can be obtained at any time from the OSA hack-a-thon web pages. Participants can expect to be exposed to the latest and greatest thinking around SSO and make it work on their applications, and contribute to open discussion regarding recommended best practices. Software will also be available on CD-ROM and other media at the tutorial.
When and where
Tutorial:
Tuesday, July 24, 2007 1:30-3:30 PM (room TBD)
This will be a tutorial format with an engineer from an OSA member organization. Other OSA members will be available to help attendees.
Hack-a-thon:
Wednesday and Thursday, July 25th and 26th, 2007 (after lunch till closing time), Lunch Room area (next to Exhibit Hall). This will be open to all attendees. Tutorial attendance desirable but not mandatory. Engineers from OSA member organizations will be available to help developers with installation and coding questions. This will be a good time for participants to provide feedback and requests for enhancement.
